Baggage to check in

In accordance with  Reg. EU 185/2010, Attachment 5-B, some items are strictly prohibited and passengers shall not be permitted to carry them in hold luggage:

 

  • explosive and incendiary substances and devices – explosives and incendiary substances and devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or to pose a threat to the safety of aircraft, including:

       -   ammunition,

       -   blasting caps

       -   detonators and fuses

       -   mines, grenades and other explosive military stores,

       -   fireworks and other pyrotechnics,

       -   smoke-generating canisters and smoke-generating cartridges

       -   dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

 

It is also forbidden:

  1. to carry objects on behalf of a third party or items whose content is unknown
  2. to transport checked baggage whose content is unknown on behalf of a third party
  3. to leave luggage and personal belongings unattended within the airport area

 

Whilst the above list is not an exhaustive list of all prohibited items, it includes generally prohibited categories of item.

 

The exceptions of ICAO Doc. 9284, Part 8, Chapter1 “Technical Instructions For The Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air”, must be excluded. This document sets down procedures to ensure that dangerous goods are carried in compliance with the requirements.

 

The transport of firearms and ammunition as checked baggage is allowed in accordance with the procedure described in the PNS (Programma Nazionale di Sicurezza) Part A, Attachment 4-A.
