SAT

Società Aeroporto Toscano Galileo Galilei S.p.A. (“SAT”), established on May 13^th 1978 on the initiative of the Tuscany Region, is the Company that has run Pisa Airport since the 1^st of July 1980 when by means of a partial concession, it replaced the former Consortium Aerostazione Civile di Pisa (Interministerial Decree n. 14/017 of 31. January 1980).

On October 20^th 2006, SAT undersigned an Agreement with ENAC entrusting to SAT the total operation of the Pisa Airport for a period of 40 years. This agreement was approved pursuant to art. 7, paragraph 1, of the Law 521/1997, with the Interministerial Decree of December 7^th 2006.

Since 1997, when the air traffic within the European Union was liberalized, SAT initiated a policy to relaunch and strategically reposition the Galileo Galilei Airport through a reverse marketing strategy summarized by the slogan “Europe at the Mouth of the Arno River”, which aimed at representing the Galileo Galilei Airport as the gateway to Tuscany in the European customers' mind.
