SAT Handling Services

The ground assistance services (handling services) group all services whose purpose is to satisfy ground assistance requirements for aircraft, passengers and goods.

All ground assistance services provided by SAT Handling Agent to airlines landing at Pisa airport are classified as follows:
(a) Ground administrative assistance and supervision
This includes: coordinating the activity of the Airport with the main Airport Authorities, transmission of operative messages about flights and verifications of the aircraft loading, issuing of loading instructions, loading plan, tradeoff
(b) Passenger assistance
Passport control, accepting passengers and luggage (check-in), making announcements, giving flight information, providing assistance for boarding and/or landing, and for lost luggage recovery. Moreover, SAT organizes assistance for the disabled, unaccompanied minors and other persons in need of assistance.
(c) Baggage assistance
Baggage handling on departure and arrival, transfer and handling in the sorting area, loading into carts and transport to the departing aircraft. All baggage on arrival is transferred from the aircraft to the carousel.
(d) Cargo and mail assistance
This service includes transfer of goods, preparation of goods on departure and of the related documentation, delivery of goods to addressees on arrival. Appropriate areas - domestic /export storage facilities in the cargo terminal and the "cargo centre" - are used to perform this activity.   
(e) Runway operations assistance 
This service includes ground support for aircraft parking and towing, communication service between aircraft and the ground handling services provider, transportation of crew members and passengers from aircraft to terminal (and vice versa), baggage transportation and cargo and mail transfers from aircraft to cargo area (and vice versa)
(f) Cleaning and ground assistance
Aircraft cleaning and maintenance services, drinking water and electricity supply, and upon request, antifreeze/deicing treatments and snow removal.
(g) General aviation services
General aviation activity dedicated to private flights, air taxi service, flights for state or emergency medical purposes, and other types of air services.
(h) Catering and restaurants service
This service is managed through sub-contracting to a specific supplier in this field of service. A 1000 sqm plant for catering purposes is located along the west end of the airport infrastructure.
