Following the recent episodes of swine influenza, occurred in Usa and Mexico we recommend all passengers travelling to the areas concerned to follow some precautions as suggested by the Italian Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policies.
1. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.
2. Wash your hands frequently using either soap and water or alcohol based detergents and wipes.
3. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue each time you cough or sneeze and throw it away in the rubbish immediately after use.
4. Avoid visiting live animal markets and farms in which exposure to infected pigs is possible.
5. Bare in mind that Influenza immunization and traditional seasonal flu vaccines may not be effective against this specific infection.
We would also like to remind you that:
Swine influenza viruses are not transmitted by food and there is no risk of infection associated with the consumption of cooked pork meat.
The use of masks as a protective measure is not recommended at a collective level. The use of masks is meaningful in higher risk environments such as hospitals.
