Pisa’s Galilei Airport has closed 2009 with 4.018.622 total passengers ( 1.4% passenger traffic growth over the previous year). This result is even more remarkable if compared with the 2.3% average decrease recorded by the Italian airports, due to the difficult air transport and economic scenario.

Pisa Airport’s summer network grew from 57 destinations in 2008 to 63 in 2009 (52 international and 11 domestic in 2009) for a total of 422 weekly frequencies operated by 8 IATA carriers and 10 Low Cost carriers.

Cargo and Mail traffic (6,004 tons) in 2009 has registered a 47.6% drop. The drop  mainly due to the stop of Pisa-New York  direct Alitalia all-cargo flight and the Italian Mail flights by 1st January 2009.
