Cargo Services

The Cargo Office

Pisa International Airport takes care of every aspect of air shipment, from the reception of the goods, to their forwarding or delivery.

SAT has its own computer network, is connected to the Computer Reservation Systems of the different carriers, and directly runs an express courier office.

Links

DHL and FedEx have operating bases at Pisa Airport which operate air links, and include offices and sorting stations for the handling and loading of goods.

All-cargo charter flights are periodically set up using well-known cargo aircraft such as the Antonov 124 or Boeing 747F.

SAT's airport agency makes it possible to send or receive air shipments carried by mixed passenger/freight aircraft.

Warehouses

Pisa Airport has two goods storing areas covering 2.500 sq.m., including a large customs warehouse and a Cargo Centre.

The Cargo Centre is fully equipped for the preparation and storage of pallets. It includes a heating system for livestock and can assist two wide-body planes simultaneously.

The import/export warehouse can handle any type of merchandise with the exception of radioactive materials, and is equipped with refrigerating rooms,  a freezer for perishables and a safe room.

Equipment

The wide availability of equipment allows the Cargo Centre to provide the necessary assistance to all types of aircraft.

Cargo assistance equipment includes:

main deck pallet loading platforms 20 ft / 15 tonnes

pallet loading platforms 10 ft / 6 tonnes

pallet transporters 10 ft / 7.5 tonnes

container dollies 20 ft / 14 tonnes - 10 ft / 7.5 tonnes

diesel and electrical fork lifts up to 7,000 kg

conveyor belts

large-package handling cranes for the A124 (on request)

Other services

The Customs District makes it possible to perform all import/export customs operations.

The veterinary and phytosanitary services are available on request.

The Airport provides the main services needed by cargo operators, and in particular the banking service, with banks located in the air terminal and in the neighbourhood.

In any case, the city of Pisa is just a kilometre away.

Development

In the near future, Pisa Airport will see the creation of a Cargo Village, which will be built in an area entirely devoted to freight and has been specially designed as a logistic platform for Italian production and distribution companies, and more in general for all users of air and surface transport.

The Cargo Village will take advantage of an additional 6,950 sq m of airside operation area, 5,800 sq m of warehouses and offices, and 7,850 sq m of landside operation area.
